		<description>I am trying to do what you allude to as the proper solution, which is compile unixODBC with i386 and ppc architectures. The reasoning is that my ODBC driver shipped with this arch, and apparently they have to match.

Using Macports as such:
sudo port install unixodbc +universal
gave me i686 and x86_64, which is still not working.
